Home Visit Physiotherapy Service
Home Visit Physiotherapy Service
We have a team of highly experienced Orthopaedic Physiotherapists who can come and visit you in the comfort of your own home for physiotherapy. This service is for people who have had hip and knee replacements, broken bones or general mobility or balance problems.
We are fortunate to have two very experienced members on our orthopaedic and home visit physiotherapy team.
Sharon Camp is a highly experienced Orthopaedic Physiotherapist. She qualified as a Physiotherapist in 1984 and started working at Lister Hospital in Stevenage as an Orthopaedic Physiotherapist in 1999. For the last 22 years she has been the Team Lead Physiotherapist on the orthopaedic wards and is well known to all the surgeons.
She is highly skilled and experienced in seeing people who are about to have joint replacement surgery or who have recently had it. She is extremely passionate about what she does and likes to spend time with her patients to ensure they feel confident with their rehabilitation plan.
Emily Murray is also highly experienced as an Orthopaedic Physiotherapist, having worked at the world renowned Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore on the Sarcoma unit.
She also worked at a private hospital in Harpenden as part of their in-patient team for over nine years, until joining the team at ASK in 2024. Emily is also one of our Hydro therapists making any transition from home-based physiotherapy to hydrotherapy smoother.
You can begin physiotherapy even before having your joint replacement surgery. This is known as ‘prehab’. The surgeons who perform joint replacement surgery like their patients to have had some physiotherapy leading up to the operation to strengthen the muscles which facilitates an easier post op recovery. Sharon and Emily will also be able to explain to you what to expect from your surgery and the first few days and weeks afterwards. This can be very helpful because in some cases it can be quite daunting not knowing what to expect and whether you are achieving what you should be achieving at each stage. You may also need some equipment in your home following your operation and Sharon and Emily can advise you on this and where to access it.
Please note that the home visit service is for general mobility and orthopaedic problems (hip and knee replacements or following broken bones) as this is the skillset of Sharon and Emily.
