The Passion That Started It All - The Birth of ASK Physio
ASK Physio was established in 2013. Sarah Kinsella had spent 17 years working as an NHS Physiotherapist at The Lister Hospital. Her time there enabled her to forge good relationships with local Consultants, including Orthopaedics and Rheumatology. This also enabled her to form liaisons with local GP practices.
Following the closure of the hydrotherapy pool at the Lister in 2010, Sarah set up a private hydrotherapy service using the pool at David Lloyd. This service is still going and is extremely popular with some people travelling up to 40 miles to use the service.
By 2013 Sarah was ready for a new challenge. The success of the Herts Hydro service gave her the confidence to open a private clinic in Stevenage Old Town.

In November 2014, Sarah’s hard work paid off as ASK Physio was awarded Best New Business at the well esteemed Hertfordshire Business Awards. This was one of her proudest achievements. The business was going from strength to strength.
2015 saw more awards for Sarah and ASK Physio as they won Best Business in Health and Wellness at the newly launched Best Business Women Awards. ASK Physio was also a runner up for Best Customer Service at the same awards.

In November 2014, Sarah’s hard work paid off as ASK Physio was awarded Best New Business at the well esteemed Hertfordshire Business Awards. This was one of her proudest achievements. The business was going from strength to strength.
2015 saw more awards for Sarah and ASK Physio as they won Best Business in Health and Wellness at the newly launched Best Business Women Awards. ASK Physio was also a runner up for Best Customer Service at the same awards.
Growing Together: A Family Business at Heart
One of the biggest changes was in 2017, when Sarah’s husband Steve joined the team. After 14 years as a Paramedic, Steve was also ready for a change. Steve became the Practice Manager at the clinic, taking on the bulk of the admin and financial running of the clinic.
Steve also re-trained in Sports Massage Therapy, to enable him to have his own case-load rather than sitting at a desk all day. ASK Physio then became a partnership.
In 2017 Sarah became a finalist in the Hertfordshire Business Awards once again, this time for the Small Business of the Year and Best Customer Service Awards.

Navigating Challenges: Adapting Through Covid and Embracing New Opportunities
Whilst all this was happening, the clinic continued to grow with more Physiotherapists joining the team along the way.
2022 saw the launch of our successful home visit service, a service to see people who have had hip and knee replacements at home in the early stage of their recovery, when it can be difficult to get to the clinic. Cat Jones joined us in 2023 and enabled us to be able to offer Specialist Hand Therapy and Scar Management.

To date, ASK Physio has seen over 6000 people from Stevenage and the surrounding towns and villages. As a team we have delivered over 45,000 appointments since opening our doors in 2013. We are a strong team of Physiotherapists with a wealth of knowledge and experience. We are extremely proud of the excellent reputation we have developed over the years.
