Sharon Camp is a highly experienced Orthopaedic Physiotherapist who has joined the team at ASK Physio to provide physiotherapy at home for those people who struggle to get into the clinic, for whatever the reason. This might be because you lack confidence in the early stages of your post op period, or because transport is difficult.

Sharon qualified as a Physiotherapist in 1984.  She started working at Lister Hospital in Stevenage as an Orthopaedic Physiotherapist in 1999. For the last 22 years she has been the Team Lead Physiotherapist on the orthopaedic wards and is well known to all the surgeons. She is highly skilled and experienced in seeing people who are about to have joint replacement surgery or who have recently had it. She is extremely passionate about what she does and likes to spend time with her patients to ensure they feel confident with their rehabilitation plan.

If you choose to do so, you can start your physiotherapy before you have your joint replacement. This is known as ‘prehab’. The surgeons who perform joint replacement surgery like their patients to have had some physiotherapy leading up to the operation to strengthen the muscles which facilitates an easier post op recovery. Sharon will also be able to explain to you what to expect from your surgery and the first few days and weeks afterwards. This can be very helpful because in some cases it can be quite daunting not knowing what to expect and whether you are achieving what you should be achieving at each stage. You may also need some equipment in your home following your operation and Sharon can advise you on this and where to access it.

Testimonial:

“I was so impressed by Sharon’s kind and gentle manner in the way she related to both me and my husband and her thoroughness and attention to detail. Having such an experienced professional working with me in my own home meant that I now had advice that is tailored to my needs in my situation. I look forward to working with her in the future”
